Tricycle rider, three others arrested with narcotics

A 45-year-old tricycle rider, Samuel Anele, has been arrested by operatives of the Natioonal Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, while allegedly attempting to smuggle 4.892kg of drugs to India.
The suspect, Samuel Anele, who hails from Ichi village, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, was arrested alongside four other suspects.

The suspect, according to the agency, allegedly concealed the drug in false bottom of his luggage.
Explaining their arrest, the agency’s Enugu Airport commander, Nsikak-Abasi Udoh, said: “Two of the suspects were found to have concealed illicit drugs in their luggage while the other two ingested the drugs found on them.
Samuel Anele, a tricycle rider, was caught with 4.892kg of methamphetamine on his way to Bombay, India.
‘’Another suspect, Emmanuel Ifeanyichukwu was caught with 1.293kg of cocaine on his way to Istanbul, Turkey.
‘’Ukaeji Eric Tochukwu was found with 1.408kg of cocaine on his way to Hong Kong while Nwoye Ekene Godfrey was caught with 1.283kg of cannabis which he had wanted to smuggle to Guangzhou, China. The suspects are helping our team of investigators.’’
In his confessional statement, Anele said: “I am a commercial tricycle rider. Life has not been fair to me. Every day it is one problem after another and the money I earn is not enough.”

Pay me the sum of one million naira.

‘’But at the airport, my bag was searched and the drug was detected. Now I am now left alone to continue suffering.’’
On his part, Ifeanyinchukwu, a secondary school drop-out and a father of one, said he would have received N600,000 on arrival in Turkey. He is married with a child.
For 43 year-old Tochukwu, a native  on Ajali in Orumba Local Government Area of Anambra , he said he intended to raise money for his business and the treatment of his sick daughter.
