51-Year-Old, Others Rape Female Corps Member To Death

A 51-year-old man, Abdullahi Tanko, and his gang members have been accused of raping a 

female National Youth Service Corps member, Yetunde Idowu to death.

Tanko was arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Mr. K.A.Yahyah, Punch reports.

Addressing the court, Mr. Matthew Ologbon, a prosecutor of the Kwara state police command said Idowu was found in a pool of her blood at the Ilorin GRA on May 23, at about 12p.m.

According to Ologbon, Tanko and his accomplices, who are now at large, tricked the deceased from her residence to Fate Road, where they raped her to death inside their car.

“After they had raped Idowu, they carried her dead body to a nearby junction. The police located Tanko’s house through the blood traces of the deceased and the suspected killer was arrested.

The mobile phone of the deceased was found with Tanko,” he said.

Yahaya ordered Tanko to be remanded in prison, while the case was adjourned to August 10, 2015.

Report had earlier surfaced in May that Yetunde, a member of the 2014 NYSC Batch B set was found lying lifeless on the street, after she was last seen shopping at a popular supermarket, ShopRite, located along Fate road.
