The president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, is set to return from his widely publicized London trip on May 28, one day before the inauguration.
According to This Day, the APC politician will land in Abuja around 4am in the company of Shehu Shagari, Nigeria’s former president, more than 30 years after Buhari overthrew the democratically elected government of Shagari through the 1983 military coup.
It has been reported that Shagari was in the UK on a private visit.
In March 2015, Buhari, who was at that time the APC presidential candidate, visited the ex-president in Sokoto to mark Shagari’s 90th birthday.
In May the former leader again paid a visit to the president-elect at the Defense House in Abuja.
The two leaders are on good terms, despite the past events.
