Oba Kabiru Adewale Sotobi was officially installed as the new Ayangbure of Ikorodu on Tuesday, May 26 by governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state.
The installation ceremony which was billed for 10am did not commence until about past 2pm when Babatunde Fashola, governor of the Lagos state arrived with his entourage.

It was reported that names of about 22 candidates were forwarded for the vacant post by the Lambo Lasuwon ruling family after the demise of Late Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi on August 2, 2014 before the selection of Oba Sotobi, who is to become Adegorushe the fifth.

present to lend their support to the new monarch
There was confusion before the commencement of the event as protesters stormed the palace, asking the governor not to hand the staff of office to the new oba, but they were eventually dispersed by security men.

The newly-elected oba later got his certificate, recognising him as the new ruler from the state governor  who also commissioned the newly-built magnificent palace in an event that put the whole of Ikorodu at a standstill.
