It was rather a moment of respite in the nation’s polity on Saturday when President Goodluck Jonathan was seen exchanging pleasantries with his supposed antagonist, the Governor of Rivers state and Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum, Chibuike Amaechi at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
President Jonathan who was on his way back to Abuja after launching a 40-Bed Comprehensive Cottage Hospital at his home town, Otuoke in Bayelsa state stopped over at the Port Harcourt airport where he was accosted by Governor Amaechi.
Dailypost can authoritatively report that immediately the president emerged from the chopper, he made for the tarmac where the Rivers Governor stood with members of his state executive council. There, Governor Amaechi took time to introduce members of his Executive council to the President, after which, both of them had a very brief dialogue with the latter holding Amaechi by the hand.
However, what is still bleak for observers who have been following the development between President Jonathan and Governor Amaechi with keen interest is if what happened at the airport was stating the good intention of both parties towards reconciliation or simply a facade’.
