To a lover of automobiles, abandoning a car is akin to setting one’s immediate family adrift on an iceberg. It’s just plain tragic. Though not everyone shares that same feeling, and we’re guessing the owner of this forsaken Mercedes is part of that group.
According to the UK’s Daily Mail, this Mercedes C-Class has sat abandoned in a Birmingham multi-story parking garage for three years, all the while accruing parking dues to the tune of about £14,000 ($22,000).
The odd (and quite dusty) sight has drawn significant attention from regular passersby over the recent years, especially since as long as anyone can remember, it has been bookended by that safety barrier. Car park staff noted that the rear axle had significant damage, further hindering its removal process.
Upon initial inspection, local authorities found the vehicle to be unlocked and even looked through the car’s logbook to find the driver’s details. However, attempts to locate the owner have led nowhere, and now – according to a police spokeswoman – the vehicle will finally be towed within seven days if the owner fails to be found again.
