We’re not opposed to Jonathan running in 2015, says S-East APC

ENUGU — The South East zone of All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday, reiterated it was not opposed to President Goodluck Jonathan running for the Presidency in 2015, saying he had the constitutional right to seek re-election.
The party was reacting to the endorsement of President Jonathan as Igbo candidate by some South East political leaders in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under the canopy of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN, rally in Awka, Anambra State, last Saturday.

Notable among the PDP Igbo political leaders at the rally who joined in asking the President to contest include Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Josephine Anenih, who represented Nigerian women in the zone.
Others are: billionaire businessman, Arthur Eze; former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, who spoke on behalf of the South-East caucus in the National Assembly.
But reacting to the rally in a statement, yesterday, by its spokesman, Osita Okechukwu, South East APC said while it was not opposed to the inalienable and constitutional right of Jonathan to contest, it was, however, opposed to the scant strategy adopted by Ndigbo-Chop-Sand-Band of politicians, who crave to put all their eggs in one basket, foreclose the chances of president of Igbo extraction and subject the hard working and enterprising Igbos
