Two people who drank and bathe with salt solution to prevent being infected with the dreaded Ebola virus disease have died at a hospital in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
According to Director, Public Health in the Ministry of Health and Human Services, Dr. Joseph Kumba who confirmed this gave the name of the hospital where the incidence happened.
“We got the report at a meeting today (yesterday) that two persons died at Ushakaa clinic as a result of drinking and bathing with hot salted water,” Kumba said.
When contacted, Medical Director of Ushakaa hospital located behind Civil Service Commission in Makurdi, Dr. Innocent Gbillah who also confirmed the report said one of the victims a male and a female lived at the North Bank area while the other deceased patient resided at BENADA area of the state capital.
Gbillah who noted that the victims were admitted i to the hospital on Saturday however declined to disclosed the names of the victims but advised members of the public to always cross check any rumor before adopting it especially issues that relate to their health.
“We did everything possible to help the victims but to no avail. One of them died on Tuesday at 7pm while the other gave up the ghost at 5am Wednesday (yesterday).
