Man kills lover in Delta

The police in Delta State yesterday said they are on the trail of a middle-aged man identified as Tomson, who allegedly murdered his 25-year-old girlfriend. Tomson allegedly snuffed life out of Augustina Edika in the early hours of last Sunday at Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect stabbed the woman with a knife in the heart before hitting her head with a pestle.

Besides, the suspect was said to have locked the deceased inside their one-room apartment apparently before disappearing.

Community sources stated that the lovers quarrelled the previous day but made up before they went to bed.

However, at about 5a.m the next morning, there was terrible noise from their apartment which woke up their neighbours and before they could force the door open, the woman had died as she was found in a pool of her blood.
