Okada Rider Crushed To Death By Truck

A commercial motorcyclist was crushed to death by a speeding truck in the Iwo axis of Oyo state on Tuesday, prompting a protest from his colleagues.

The rider, simply identified as Kehinde was said to be riding with a female passenger when he fell of his motorcycle into the path of the fast moving truck.

He was said to have been crushed but the female passenger escaped the tragedy.

According to Punch, Kehinde was forced into the path of the truck when a taxi trying to avoid being arrested by vehicle inspection officers put pressure on him.

His body was taken to Adeoyo State Hospital morgue, Yemetu, Ibadan.

A source said: “The Vehicle Inspection Officers laid a siege to taxi cabs beside two state-run shuttle buses. They pretend to check their papers, but the aim was actually to extort money from them.

“Kehinde had a female passenger and was on the other side of the road when a taxi rammed into him and pushed him into the path of the truck. The officers fled the scene immediately.”
