Alleged Nyanya bomber, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche |
The alleged mastermind of the April 14, 2014 bomb blast in Nyanya, Abuja, Aminu Ogwuche, yesterday, had his enforcement suit filed for fundamental human rights enforcement dismissed by the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Ogwuche was hoping to get N600million as damages against the federal government and the Department of Security Service, DSS.
He also filed a suit demanding the court for an order releasing him from the custody of the Department of State Service.
Ogwuche claimed that he has been in detention since his arrest in July 2014 without arraignment before the court.
In the ruling by Justice Adeniyi Ademola, the court held that the suit lacked merit as the applicant’s detention by the DSS was in order to complete its investigations based on court directives.
The Judge held that the orders made by the various courts allowing Ogwuche’s detention for successive periods were in line with the powers the court could exercise under section 27 of Terrorism Prevention Act.
It will be recalled that the State Security Services (SSS) on May 15, 2014, Thursday, announced the arrest of Col. (rtd) Agene Ogwuche, the father of Aminu Owuche.
Aminu Ogwuche was said to have been radicalized while studying at a South Wales university.
