Wike Seeks Injunction Against Peterside

Wike Seeks Injunction Against Peterside
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has asked the state governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja to deny the All Progressives Congress candidate at the April 11, 2015 governorship election access to the electoral materials used for the poll.

This comes after, Peterside and the APC had asked for access to the sensitive materials after filling a petition before a tribunal challenging Wike’s victory.
The tribunal wich was led by Justice Muazu Pindigahad on June 11, 2015 granted an ex parte order permitting the petitioners to personally or through their lawyers or forensic expert inspect the electoral materials used for the poll.
Wike however, through his lawyer, Emmanuel Ukala (SAN) demanded the tribunal to set aside the ex parte order for the inspection of the electoral materials, particularly the voters register and the card reader machines.
He argued that the investigators research of these sensitive materials could compromise the secrecy of the ballot.
He said: “highly sensitive security information containing the biometric data of all registered voters in Nigeria.”
Wike had defeated Peterside in a highly controversial election which had former Governor Rotimi Amaechi supporting Mr Dakuku Peterside and ex-president Goodluck Jonathan supporting Wike.
