Wike Pledges Allegiance To President Buhari

Wike Pledges Allegiance To President Buhari
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, has pledged his allegiance to the president Muhammadu Buhari-led administration as well as the business community for a transformation of the state.
The former minister of education, who emerged winner of the April 11 gubernatorial election under controversial circumstances, further claimed that his administration has a clear mandate to improve the lives of Rivers people by creating a conducive environment for business to thrive in partnership with the federal government.

PM News reports that Wike, a governor with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made these remarks during a meeting in Port Harcourt on Wednesday with representatives of the business community in the state, including from the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and the Petroleum Technical Association of Nigeria .
“What is important is commitment. The government has the political will to create a conducive environment. If we want investment to come into the state then we must fight crime,” Wike said while also promising to address the problem of multiple taxation by appointing a professional to man the state’s ministry of commerce and industry.
“Our mandate is clear: to make sure we improve the lives of the people and not to antagonize federal government,” the governor averred.
As part of his government’s policy and as a way of building confidence, job creation and business growth, Wike announced that there shall be regular meetings between the government and the business community once every quarter.
The governor earlier this week, bragged about his administration’s achievements barely two weeks after taking over the reins of affairs in the state.
