Two Young Nigerians Die In Malaysia

Two Nigerians have lost their life in a mining pond in the outskirts of the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
The two young Nigerians, identified as Akala Temitayo Akintunde, 34, from Iwo, Osun-State, and Azeez Lamidi, 31, from Ago-Iwoye, Ogun-State were involved in a car crash.

The car in which they were riding in skidded off the road and plunged into the pond behind a sharp bend off a carriage way, Malaysian police said on Sunday.
The authorities in the Asian country said they will barricade the lake until investigations are concluded into the case they described as “a mystery”.
The rescue team were able to recover the vehicle 15 meters deep 4 hours later after the incident occurred.
Police Commissioner Abdul Aziz Ali said the accident occurred because the driver was not used to the notorious bend. He however ruled out any suspicion of drunk-driving.
“The men were driving along Puchong Permal Road where there’s a dangerous bend very close to a cliff but they failed to follow the U-Shape of the road and plunged into the mining pond, there’s no alcohol in their system at all”, he said.
He also said the remains of the victims have been deposited at the hospital and they are awaiting instruction from Nigeria Embassy on how to send back the bodies of the victims  back to Nigeria.
“We sent messages to the Nigeria Embassy here but we have not heard anything from them, our investigations have been concluded and the bodies are ready to be collected at Serdang Hospital mortuary”, he said.
Malaysia’s The Star Newspaper quoted a municipal officer as saying, “We will install a fence at the area between the road bend and the pond and erect a warning sign. Street lights will be put up as well”.
Western Post’s efforts to reach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comments were futile as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the Malaysia Government has officially declared dead, the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 carrying 239 passengers and crew disappeared on 8 March, 2014 , allowing the bereaved to claim compensation.
