Primary School Kids Drown In Jigawa

What can be regarded as an unfortunate incident occurred yesterday in Madaki Village, Gagarawa Local, Jigawa State when the dead bodies of two primary school kids were recovered in a pond.

According to the state commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Gidado Fari, his men participated in the rescue operation but the lives of the two young kids couldn’t be saved.

In a report published by Daily Trust, the commandant said his men were notified that two boys, Muhammad Yusuf and Habu Dawaki, went to the village pond to swim and had not been seen since then.

Following the report, Dr. Fari stated that his men and some villagers immediately rushed to the scene but could only recover the dead bodies of the primary six kids.

Speaking with newsmen, Dr. Fari also stated that the father one of the deceased boys, Malam Dahiru, disclosed to his men that the two children and their other friends numbering about eight were seen playing in the morning and that he did not know when they left the area.

This tragic incident comes just a month after something similar occurred in Bauchi when the dead bodies of three kids were recovered in a well.
