Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari received a special gift from Niger’s President Mahamadou Issoufou during his trip to neighboring country.
On his entourage to Niger were the governors of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal, Katsina, Aminu Masari, and Borno, Kashim Shettima and Yobe governor Ibrahim Geidam.
Buhari was given an ornamented beautiful white horse as a gift by the Nigerien President.
The president plans to move to Chad next.
Nigerians in their reactions said that it’s good gift:
“Buhari is a herdsman, he knows how to appreciate such a gift and just what to do with it. A real cowboy now.”
“On the contrary, that horse should belong to the federal government. Any gift given to government officials, above a certain token value, should be handed over to the federal government. This is the law in Nigeria and many other countries to avoid bribery and allegations of bribery in government.”
