Samuel Ortom, Benue state governor, warned his administration against womanizing and holding wild parties in the government house.
The unusual warning was made during a thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Makurdi, Daily Post reports.

Ortom also vowed to carefully check the handover notes given by ex-governor Gabriel Suswam as the provided debt figure of N9.3 billion did not include arrears of salaries, allowances, retirement benefits.

The new governor vowed to give priority to economic and security issues. He stressed the importance of ensuring comfortable business environment for the private sector to advance the economy, based on the global experience.
In conclusion, Ortom attributed his victory to God and promised to serve the state with respect to His will.
Ortom expressed optimism regarding the future of the state which he sees as peaceful and prosperous.
It was earlier reported that Benue state government was facing a major challenge of unpaid salaries of civil servants. Primary school teachers are being owed at least five months salaries. About 20,000 workers who had been collecting irregular salary for over eight months are also being owed three or four months’ arrears.
