A 24-year-old Nigerian girl, Mariam Folashade Adebayo, has been shot dead by her ex-boyfriend in Germantown, the USA.
Police said in its news release that Adebayo and her 27-year-old boyfriend, Donald Wayne Bricker, were arguing at the parking lot of a Target retail store on the fateful day. When the woman got out from the car and walked away, her ex-boyfriend followed her, pulled out a gun and fired at her.
According to witnesses, when Adebayo fell on the ground, Bricker came up and fired at her from close range.
The local police received multiple calls about the shooting and when officers arrived on the scene, they found a bleeding woman unconscious and rushed her to a hospital, where she passed away.
The witnesses gave a detailed description of the car Bricker fled in; it was broadcast on the radio for all police officers to be on the alert. The truck was later located and given chase when the murderer refused to stop. However, later he had a crash and was arrested.
The police said that Bricker would be charged with first-degree murder in the slaying.
It was gathered that Adebayo had been dating with Bricker for about six months, but the two has recently broken up. The ex-lovers had reportedly planned to meet at the shopping center to talk when tempers flared leading to the crime.
