Maidugiri: Boko Haram Strikes Again

Borno State capital, Maidugiri, came under heavy attack this morning few days after the Nigeria military won a battle by the terrorist group to over run the city, Vanguard reports.
Witnesses told the Voice of America that rocket-propelled grenades were used by the deadly group, while the the sound of heavy gun fire and a fighter jet hovering round the city was heard.

Some of the residents who gave first hand information to the AFP said, the group staged the attack from the Moronti area of the crisis-ridden city through a river bank, but were unsuccessful in their attempts to advance further because of traps set by the Nigerian military around the area.
They then began shelling Ajillari Cross, about three kilometres (two miles) away at about 12:45 am. There was no immediate word on damage or casualties.
“We were bombarded by RPGs by Boko Haram from Moronti, we all left our homes for fear of being hit inside. It was dark so we could see the trajectory of the RPGs, which were red with heat. Soon afterwards, we saw troops in trucks moving towards Moronti and then a fighter jet also deployed not long afterwards. Isa Mala, who lives in Ajillari Cross, told newmen.
Another resident, Kyari Bulunkutu, who lives near Mala, added: “At about two in the morning it was all over but I haven’t been able to see whether there was any damage or casualties.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Military will soon relocate its Command Centre to Maiduguri, this is in response to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that the Command and Control Centre of the military should move to the city.
