Isa Hussaini, 70,who has allegedly been stealing for over 15 years has been arraigned before an Upper Customary Court in Sabongari,Kaduna state by the Police for goat theft.
According NAN , Hussaini is facing a one-count charge of theft.The Police prosecutor, Cpl. Bashir Abdullahi told the court the case was reported through a distress call placed by the village head of Yakawada, Alhaji Rilwanu Yakawada in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Abdullahi said that on June 2 the accused was found in possession of the stolen goat, when he was challenged, Hussaini confessed to the theft which according the prosecutor is contrary to Section 319(a) of the penal code.
Meanwhile the accused person confessed that he had spent 15 years in stealing business.
He said ``I started this ugly job 15 years ago and I started by stealing maize and later started stealing goats because I sell beef kebab.
I steal to feed my two wives and six children,’’ he added.
Hussaini pleaded guilty to the charge preferred on him. The Judge Atiku Sarki-Yohanam granted him bail in the sum of N30,000 and one surety in a reasonable sum. The case was adjourned for further hearing till June 11.
