Security chiefs in Kano yesterday held a marathon meeting with the leadership of the various motorparks and garages as part of efforts to check the menace of terrorism in the state.
In attendance at the parley, which took place at the Bompai Police Officers’ Mess included the Police Commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim K Idris,  the Brigade Commander, Nigeria Army, Brig-General Ohi Ejemai,
Commandant, Nigeria Air Force, Air Commodore Ahigbe Iyamu, as well as the boss of the Directorate of State Security, Mr. Enteng Bassey.
The meeting with the road transporters and leadership of the motorparks was called against the backdrop of last Tuesday’s bomb blast at the Old Kano Line Motorpark, which led to the death of 10 passengers and two suicide bombers. Some of the resolutions of the meeting include working towards the enforcement of the law against the operation of illegal motorparks in the state, enforcing the use of manifest by all transporters, uniforms for park workers, intensive security training for officials of the parks and vigilance by all and sundry.
Speaking at the meeting, Alhaji Idris restated that security is everybody’s business, while harping on the need for officials of the parks to commence the screening of all their passengers.
He charged them to collaborate with the security agencies by reporting promptly any suspicious character in their midst.
Brigade Commander, 3rd Brigade, Nigeria Army, Brig-General Ejemai, said with the dawn of terrorism in the country, Nigeria has lost her innocence, while arguing that no country experiences terrorism and remains the same.
He urged Nigerians to change their lifestyles and take seriously things that they hitherto take for granted.
