Think about the first time you heard about the Ebola Outbreak? It was probably on social media. Or at least some sort of media. What does that tell you? Technology has got a part to play in fighting Ebola. It may not be as easy as curing a person with the click of a mouse, but here are some
ways technology can help fight Ebola.
·Social campaigns
Don’t just receive messages about Ebola on your social media channel. Broadcast them—but be sure to confirm the authenticity of the information you receive. You never know, you could be saving a life.
·Watch the tech you handle
The great thing about technology today is that you can get almost anything done with a simple touch. Just be sure to watch what you touch. A recent report showed that remote controls are one of the largest carriers of germs. Ebola can be contracted through body fluids, so be sure to watch the tech equipment you handle. Don’t be in a hurry to use somebody else’s phone or computer especially if that person is sick.
·Go back to a really old machine
One of the oldest machines ever is the tap. Use it! Wash your hands regularly especially before eating, and when you just get in from a trip. Be sure to use soap, and very clean water. The hand sanitizer may not be as trendy as the Galaxy S5, but it could also save your life.
·More online transactions
It may sound snobbish, but you don’t have to relate physically with more people than you need to. If you can do a financial transaction online, do it. If that meeting might as well take place in cyberspace; then do it. It means less bodily contact, and inadvertently, fewer chances at catching Ebola.
·Personal Protection Equipment
Except you’re a health worker, you might never come in contact with this equipment. Simply put, it is the alien-like clothing worn to protect people who come in close contact with Ebola patients. You might not like the style, but prevention is always better than cure.
