Al-Zawahiri told jihadis to kidnap Westerners |
THE leader of Al-Qaeda has issued a chilling message urging the terror group’s depraved fanatics to kidnap westerners.
Ayman al-Zawahiri called on jihadis to take hostages who are "enemies of Islam" and exchange them for jailed militants.
The Al-Qaeda leader called for the liberation of every terrorist until "the last Muslim male prisoner and last Muslim female prisoner in the prisons of the Crusaders, apostates, and enemies of Islam" has been released.
The al-Qaeda leader said kidnapping is a 'powerful weapon' |
Speaking in Arabic, Al-Zawahiri said kidnapping was a "powerful weapon in the fight against the enemy".
The terrorist was crowned leader of the warped cult in 2011 following the death of Osama Bin Laden.
He is believed to be currently seeking refuge in the Taliban's base on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
The terror chief's terrifying rallying cry came after two men tried to grab a serviceman while he was out jogging near RAF Marham in Norfolk last week.
Norfolk Police’s Assistant Chief Constable Nick Dean told a press conference: "Our main line if investigation is that this is being treated as an attempted abduction.
“The motivation of this incident remains unclear, we are unable at this moment to discount terrorism.
"The victim managed to fight off his attacker and head-butted him, we believe around the eye-socket, so it is possible he suffered swelling and bruising in this area.
"He was then punched which caused him to fall to the ground.
