Couple Sorrowful At The Birth Of Triplets

Triplet baby

The birth of a new baby is a source of happiness and joy for most families. But that is not so with the family of the Egwilos as the birth of their triplets is becoming a source of burden as the family meager income cannot cater for the needs of the new babies.

Mr. and Mrs. Malaki Egwilo said they are both happy and sad with the gift of three healthy babies in one day . However, taking care of these babies after the couple have had two other children had become a hard nut too hard  to crack.
The Egwilo told The Sun that their problem became worsen when triplets were birthed through  a cesarean section. The family  said aside of the hardship faced by them in raising the babies, they are still indebted  to the hospital that took the delivery – Surgicare Consult, Ibara Estate, Ota, Ogun State.
The woman who  studied Linguistics and graduated in 2010 said that since she graduated from university, she had not be lucky enough to secure employment. This is even as the husband who teaches in a private school income is barely enough for the family upkeep.
Mrs. Egwilo who  is an indigence of Ora Ukwu town in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra, explained  that she  was happy to have given birth to the triplets, but she is now sorrowful as the task of taking care the babies is now turning to a nightmare .
She further explained that she never thought that she  was going to give birth to a set of triplets as the scan  result had earlier shown that she had twins in her womb. The nursing mother added as she and her husband were preparing for a set of twins, surprising she gave birth triplets even making the matter worse it was through caesarian section.
The  mother of five said that she is willing to take any appointment as a mean to complement her husband income in taking care of the children calling on Nigerians to come their aid.
For her husband, he said he was taken aback at the news of the arrival of the triplets.  But had to be bold and face the challenge as a man.
The private school teacher explained he now understand why some men run away at the news that their wives take delivery of twins or triplets. He added taking of a kid is enormous let alone five children

In those days, when I heard the news that a woman gave birth to triplets and the husband ran away, I would be angry. I would ask, why should a man run away because his wife gave birth? I now know how it feels because the demand is very high.”
The hospital alone will demand for so many things which will make the man run away or even collapse if he does not have a heart. But for me, I cannot run away because it is not my wife’s fault. So, I can’t leave her to bear the pain alone. I am pleading with well-meaning Nigerians to assist us,” he said.
