David ‘Davido’ Adeleke on Sunday, June 7, graduated from Babcock University and it was a time friends and family members celebrated with him.

But outside the successful graduation ceremony of the young artiste, have you ever wondered how long it took Davido to attain a university degree and the people that played vital roles in his feat as a graduate?

The identity of a key individual who played an essential role in Davido’s success has been unveiled.
After tasting success in his musical pursuit, Davido dropped out of university in America in 2011, but his billionaire father, Chief Deji Adeleke, insisted he get a university education. To please his father Davido in 2012, re-enrolled at Babcock University for a degree in music which is in line with his chosen career.
He joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church owned University as a pioneering and only student in his department, department of music.

Davido would later go on to be tutored by Olusegun Ojuola, who doubles as the head of department of music. Ojuola taught Davido for the duration of three years.

Speaking exclusively to NET during the convocation, Olusegun Ojuola said:

Well, the first thing I try to do is to dichotomise the artiste from the student. The Davido I know is an artiste but the student I admitted into the department is Adedeji David Adeleke and the relationship has been like that all through. But I can tell you this much, that David is a very, very brilliant and very obedient student. When I say obedient, you can see that in terms of humility. Anytime David is in school, he knows he’s in school as a student.”

In all, it took Davido six long years to attain a university degree which ordinarily should be less.
Talking about his long journey to attaining a university education and how his father and other family members encouraged him to get a university education, he wrote on his Instagram page:

“I remember dropping out of school in America 2011 for music. After a year my dad demanded that i finished my education even though success had come my way ! It didn’t make sense going back to me , i had it all in my eyes , homes, cars , money name it !! But after encouragement from my peers and family members im finally done and im happy to say this degree is my most cherished asset!! we did it!! #baddestniggawithabsc eagle graduating class babcock university!!! graduation day 7th of june!!!

Meanwhile, former Akwa Ibom governor, Godswill Akpabio, was a special guest of honour at the 13th convocation ceremony at Babcock University.
