Life In Samuel Ajayi Crowther: Students React!

A student of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Ndukwe Chika sampled the opinion of her colleagues on the social life style in their campus.
Read below:

Empirical research carried out in the university shows that about 60 percent of the students are of the opinion that social life in the school environment is extremely poor.
While about 40 percent claim to enjoy the peaceful environment, reaction being that their primary assignment is to acquire a quality education and academic excellence not to focus on distraction.
A student from communication and media studies by the name Alatawura, said social life in ACU is perfect, as students are allowed to have their departmental week, which comes-up once a year. During the departmental activities,  students are allowed to have as much fun as possible in school.
Infact, this had been lecture free as a result of  social activities such as: excursions, dinners and awards night etc. The management of the school has a policy of ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” in order to enhance performance in the students.
Olufemi Olubukola Ayoade an English Student was of the opinion that social activities in ACU is poor, that there are rules and regulations which do not permit social activities in the university such as: No playing of loud music, No drinking of Alcohol or buying and selling of alcohol, No smoking, No going to parties, jeans is forbidding as it is seen as indecent dressing. He rated social activities in ACU 20 percent the academics 80 percent.
Okeke Kenechukwu a Computer Sciences Student of the institution was of the opinion that social activities in ACU is on the medium side.
A microbiology student Assey Praise complained that the school is somewhat boring she feels she is still in secondary school and she hardly leaved the school premises. She quickly admitted that although the social life in the school is poor, it has helped her in improve in her academics stating that education is her primary goal in the institution.
She finally gave the citadel a 70 percent of academic activities and then 30 percent for socials.
However it is observed that majority of Nigerian learning institutions have reduced their level of academic work for social activities and this is the major cause for the low-quality graduates Nigeria produces today.
