The National Emergency Management Agency has moved to the rehabilitation camp in “Shasha,” Ekiti State, to start feeding over 2,000 internally displaced persons, predominantly Hausa-Fulanis.
The people were relocated to the neutral ground along Ado Ekiti-Ikere, Ekiti road as the fight between them and commercial drivers, which ignited on Wednesday, got worse.

No fewer than 50 shops and two houses were burnt in the fight.
According to a press release on Monday by the Head of Ekiti Operations Office, Mr. Saheed Akiode, the agency said relief materials had been distributed directly to the affected persons in conjunction with the Chairman of Hausa Community, Alhaji Adamu Imam.
“The NEMA Ekiti Operations Office moved swiftly to assess the situation on Friday and immediately came in to the rescue of the displaced persons being camped at Shasha market by providing them with beddings, household materials, food stuffs, and toiletries, sanitary and other forms of requisite logistical support to make the camp habitable.”
“Since the beginning of the rehabilitation support at the camp, NEMA officials have been on the ground from Friday 22nd May, 2015, providing three square meals to the displaced persons including women and children,” it said.
In his response, Imam thanked the agency for responding quickly to the basic needs of the displaced persons.
“The IDPs at the camp expressed their satisfaction in the way and manner NEMA responded promptly in meeting their basic needs at the camp,” the statement added.
Akiode sued for calmness at the camp as he assured the IDPs of the Federal Government’s determination to improve their living condition at the camp.
