Fashola’s wife urges children to be obedient to parents, teachers

Lagos State First Lady, Mrs Abimbola Fashola, on Wednesday urged children to be obedient to their parents and teachers for them to be a good leaders of tomorrow. Fashola made the assertion at Indomie Fan Club Children`s Day celebration to mark the 10th year anniversary of the club at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
She said that children are the future of tomorrow and therefore advised them to listen and obey their parents and teachers for them to be good leaders tomorrow. “The foundation of the children matters, once they are well trained and disciplined at their youthful age, they will be greater in future. “Once the background of children is bad, there is the tendency for the children to be wayward. “Therefore, adequate attention is needed to be given to the children at their tender age,” Fashola said.
She also advised the children to keep their environment clean saying that “cleanliness is next to Godliness.’’ Fashola commended the organisers of the event for given the children the opportunity to showcase their talents. Mr Deepak Singhal, the Chief Executive Officer of Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie, expressed the company’s appreciation to various schools that participated in the event.
Singhal said the event primarily focused attention on pupils because they were the future of tomorrow. “We need to encourage them to do well in school and engage them in environment where they can exhibit their talents and experience a fun fill environment,” Singhal said. He said there were ongoing plans to take the children’s day celebration across the country.
Mr Temitope Ashiwaju, Head, Public Relations and Event of the company, said that the one week event which began on May 19, was for pupils to exhibit their talents. Ashiwaju added that the one week event would be rounded-up on May 27 during the Children’s Day celebration. According to him, the event is spread for one week because of the large number of student, saying that “we have over 70,000 students to host across the country.
“We are hosting them batch by batch for the celebration to go round,” he said. Mr Amber Yadav, the company’s Brand Manager, said that the company gave out several kits and packages to participants daily to encourage the children in their education career.
