Bauchi Youths Discover Boko Haram Anti-Aircraft Gun

The Special Task Force (STF) operating in Plateau and Bauchi states recovered an anti-aircraft gun used by Boko Haram, on Tuesday, May 19.
According to Daily Trust, the insurgents used the weapon during the March attack on Tafawa Balewa LGA in Bauchi.

The gun was handed over to the STF on behalf of the Tafawa Balewa community after weeks of negotiations.
Rev. Isaac Istifanus, chairman of the local branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, disclosed that the weapon had been captured by Sayawa youths after the March 30 assault.
Condemning the attack, Istifanus blamed those he described as “enemies” who meant to frustrate the general elections.
Major General David Enetie, STF Commander, said the STF had it on record that two anti-aircraft guns were taken after the troops had repelled the attack. He warned the locals against hiding the weapons upon discovery.
Meanwhile the Nigerian army continues its offensive against Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast. The militants were said to have been seriously weakened following a series of successful raids by the troops.
Some of the victims recently rescued from Sambisa Forest disclosed that the insurgents were experiencing shortage of arms and fuel, which caused tension between the fighters and their commanders.
