2015: Don’t vote for Jonathan on sentiment, Buhari tells Igbo

1Buhari

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, has appealed to the people of the South East, not to cast their votes for President Goodluck Jonathan on sentiment.
This was just as he stated that it was in the best interest of Nigerians to vote out the PDP-led government  to save the country from total collapse.

Addressing political and religious leaders from the South East at a town Hall meeting yesterday in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the APC presidential candidate stated that no amount of sentiment would be justified for Igbo to vote back to power, a political party that had failed to deliver on its promises in the past 16 years.
Buhari pointed out that President Goodluck Jonathan, who had already spent six years as president of the country lacked the vision and will power to tackle the endemic problems of corruption, insecurity and high rate of graduate unemployment in the country.
His words: “ The economy of the country is near collapse because of the problem of corruption and President Jonathan and his Peoples Democratic Party lack the vision and will power to tackle it. I am here for the second time to appeal to you people that it would not be justified for the people of the South East to simply vote for President Jonathan and his party back to power simply on sentiment.”
He stated that the PDP had failed to deliver on its promises for the past 16 years and if voted into power for another four years, the country would totally collapse because nothing was working. He noted: “ No security, no jobs for our youths and today, naira has terribly depreciated to the extent that one naira exchanges for one hundred and eighty to a dollar. It is in the best interest of Nigerians and Igbo to say goodbye to the Peoples Democratic Party.”
Speaking in the same vein, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola said President Jonathan had been using propaganda to deceive the people of Nigeria on his performance.
He alleged that the claims by the Jonathan administration of creating over two million jobs and the construction about 25, 000 kilometers of roads across the country were false.
Meanwhile, the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party had perfected plans to rig the elections by changing all the heads of security agencies in the state. However, he vowed that the people of the state would resist any attempt to manipulate the results of the polls.
“ If the PDP thinks that they can rig the elections by changing all the head of the security agencies in the state, then they don’t know what they are up against because the people of the state are battle ready to resist them against any manipulation,” he said.
Present at the event were General Muhammadu Buhari,  Prof Yemi Osinbajo ,Rivers state governor, Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, Lagos state governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Chris Ngige,Chief John Oyegun amongst others.
