The brutal assassination of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader in Tarka Local Government Area in Benue State by suspected Fulani herdsmen has been confirmed by the state's Police Command on Monday.
DSP Moses Yamu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi, that the herdsmen abducted the youth leader in the early hours of Sunday in his village at Tse-Tia in Tarka LGA and his lifeless body was found by the road side in the same village on Monday morning.
According to NAN, the youths of community protested the killing of their leader and blocked the Makurdi-Gboko Road for over four hours on Monday.
The police spokesperson however said that the police later brought the situation under control, adding that the youths should have used alternative ways to express their anger.
