The Rivers State Government has finally sacked the Chairman of the State’s Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, Prof. Augustin Ahiaozu and members of the Commission.
The Governor of the State, Nyesom Wike also dissolved the members of the State’s Judiciary Service Commission, JSC.
The Rivers State House of Assembly had empowered the Executive Governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, to sack the Chairman of RSIEC and his six-man member Commission.
The Assembly also granted power to Governor Wike to dissolve the Secretary and members of the Rivers state Judicial Service Commission, JSC.
Acting on the resolution of the State Assembly, Wike said the leaders of the two commissions were sacked after being found guilty of official misconduct.
Wike’s Senior Media Officer, Opunabo Inko-Tariah told newsmen that the Chairman of RSIEC and its members and that of the JSC had been directed to handover to the most senior civil servants in their commission.
In the meantime, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has vowed to resist the alleged plan by Wike to dissolve the newly elected Local Government Chairmen.
