Pro-Biafra group honours fallen heroes

A Pro-Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, drawn from the South East and South South states of the country, has in Aba, Abia State, honoured fallen heroes, who died in the Nigerian-Biafran war.
Numbering about 10, 000, the group gathered as early as 9a.m., in front of Christ the King Catholic Cathedral Church, Aba, and in sub-groups marched through the streets of Aba after which they reassembled at the same spot where they took off.

The group marched peacefully for eight hours through Ogbor Hill area to  Aba-Owerri road, Tonimas-Umule axis, Ariaria, Port Harcourt road through Flyover Bus Stop among others.
The procession almost brought traffic to a standstill in the commercial city as residents, commuters, motorists and residents of Aba trooped out in their numbers to have a glimpse of what was happening.
Security was, however, provided by the police who stationed their patrol vehicles at strategic junctions in the city.
There was also an Armoured Personnel Carrier stationed at Ehi Road/CKC junction to ensure that the march did not turn violent or hijacked by hoodlums.
According to members of the group, the exercise was staged to honour some of the Biafran warlords who died during the Nigerian-Biafran civil war.
They said the exercise was also aimed at further pushing for a realization of the sovereign state of Biafra.
