Ousted governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako has denied all allegation of corruption levelled against him noting that all through his duration as a governor, he did not take a dime from the government house.
Nyako who had been out of the country for over 10 months after he was impeached corrected the impression that he did not run away from the country because of the invitation by the Economic and financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and explained that he is never afraid of the body .
Speaking to newsmen shortly after visiting the scene of the Yola Main Market bomb blast, Nyako explained that he would honour any invitation by the EFCC. In his words, “I must reiterate here that I did not leave this country for the fear of EFCC but I left for the safety of my dear life following two failed attempts to get me assassinated”.
According to The Sun newspapers, Nyako maintained that he does not know whether his subordinates were stealing from the government coffers. “I can only speak for myself but I must tell you I did not steal a dime from Adamawa State. I don’t have a single dollar outside Nigeria. Apart from the single house I have overseas, I don’t even have a plot of land anywhere outside Nigeria. If I have stolen money, I would have stashed them away in foreign vaults,” said Nyako
The Ex-Governor who also visited the Specialist Hospital and Federal Medical Centre Yola to commiserate with the bomb blast victims revealed that he has now been vindicated as regards how he was impeached and what happened to Goodluck Jonathan at the 2015 elections. “We advised them (Jonathan’s administration) but they took offense and have now seen the result. I want to thank the people of Adamawa for their contribution to voting the Peoples’ Democratic Party out. We now need to support big brother Buhari who is reliable and can deliver” said Nyako.
It would be recalled that Nyako was removed as the Gorvenor of Adamawa State after the adoption of the report of a seven-man panel earlier constituted by the former acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, to investigate allegations of gross misconduct levelled against the governor and his deputy by the Peoples Democratic Party-led legislature.
