Buhari Will Put An End To Boko Haram - Ex-VC Speaks Up

A former vice chancellor of the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, Prof. Shehu Riskuwa has said President Muhammadu Buhari will put an end to Boko Haram insurgency.
He stated that those responsible for Boko Haram insurgency in the country will be fished out and prosecuted.

According to Riskuwa, curbing the insurgency has been part of Buhari’s campaign, NAN reports.

The former VC was optimistic that the President would put in place stringent security measures that would end the killings of innocent souls, being an army general.

He said:
It has been part of his campaign to bring to an end the activities of the insurgents. I am very confident that, with well-coordinated security strategies and political will to implement, Nigerians will soon put the menace of Boko Haram insurgency behind them.”

Riskuwa explained that Buhari’s decision to relocate the military central command to Maiduguri showed that he had the political will to end the activities of the insurgents and the administration was committed to tackling the insurgency.

The professor said this decision would boost intelligence report gathering that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of the sect members.

He therefore called for more support and provision of state-of -the- art equipment for the security agencies to be able to confront the insurgents and effectively carry out their constitutional responsibilities.

Boko Haram has been wrecking havoc for years in Nigeria and efforts to curb their activities has yielded some positive results in recent times.

During his swearing in ceremony on May 29, Friday, Nigeria’s new president, Buhari said until Boko Haram is defeated the army headquarters will be situated in Maiduguri, not in Abuja.

After Buhari’s Friday inauguration, the militants attempted to invade Borno state capital, in the early morning of Saturday. They were however repelled by the military. On the same day a suicide bombing was launched in a Maiduguri mosque.
