THE All Progressives Congress, APC, Oyo State has reminded a former Governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja of his threat to institute legal action against the state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi for saying the ex-governor refunded N500 million to the state coffers from the alleged N6.5 billion that his administration mismanaged.
The party said yesterday that the state government was yet to see the court papers of a libel suit threatened by Sen. Ladoja who is the governorship candidate of Accord Party in the April 11 election.
According to the publicity secretary of the party in the state, Mr. Wale Sadare, the seeming silence of the former governor was “an indication of deceit of the public and acceptance of guilt in the allegation of refund of N500 million to the state coffers by Ladoja.”
The state government had alleged that Ladoja and some other persons, who are facing an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, trial over a N6.5 billion alleged complicity in the siphoning of the state money in a shares purchase deal, had refunded N500 million, as well as vehicles to government.
But the former governor had denied the claim of the government and asked government, through a letter written by his counsel, to withdraw the claim within seven days or be prepared for a legal battle with the Accord governorship candidate.
The APC, however, said that neither government nor the governor of the state had received any court summons, more than three months after they made the allegation against Ladoja.
