Niger Delta Youth for APC has expressed optimism that people from the region will benefit meaningfully from in-coming Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, saying that the major infrastructural development recorded in the region were executed under the previous regimes of northern origin, who have shown kindness to redress the plight of the region.
President of the group, Fredrick Ujobolo, said in a statement, yesterday in Abuja, that they were convinced that the president-elect will redouble the performance of his northern predecessors for the entire country, particularly the Niger Delta region.
Ujobolo said: “We believe Gen. Buhari will prove to Nigerians that he is not what people say he is. Buhari is a man of integrity and credibility. God will bless, guide and protect him and his administration.”
He made reference to the Amnesty programme introduced by late former President Umaru Yar-Adua, an Hausa man, and also the creation of Niger Delta Ministry as evidence of the fact that the Hausas actually meant well for Niger Delta, just as he added that General Sani Abacha created Bayelsa State for the Ijaw which has given them a voice and a pride in their existence in Nigeria.
The body, which described Buhari as a disciplinarian and oracle pathfinder, thanked God for the peace in the country even after the speculation of chaos and crisis that might emanate from election violence.
