The Police in Delta State on Friday said they caught the armed robbers that invaded the poultry of a former Acting Governor of the state, Mr. Sam Obi, and carted away 500 turkeys, an unspecified number of chicken and other valuables.

Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said the police at Agbor had received a report that some armed robbers had invaded Royent Farm, Emuhu, bound the two security men with rope and stole the turkeys and other items in the farm and escaped afterwards.
But before then, a police patrol team along Asaba – Benin expressway had intercepted one Mitsubishi L300 bus, number plate XC 755 ATN driven by one Ezenwa Nwachukwu, loaded with suspected stolen poultry and handed him over to SARS office Asaba for investigation.
She said, “The suspect, during interrogation by SARS detectives confessed to the crime and mentioned his accomplice. He led detectives to Ekwuoma town where the said accomplice, one Dominic Wayas was arrested.
“Items recovered from them include over 800 poultry; 95 crates of eggs; one Firman generator and two L.G Plasma T.Vs suspected to be property of this Day Newspapers; one heavy duty motor Jack; one Lorry tyre; one Lady’s motorcycle; one motor battery; two motor kick starters; and 50 litres of diesel.”
The PPRO said investigation revealed that the birds were stolen from various farms in Agbor.
She said, 358 live and 135 dead layer birds have been identified and handed over to Royent Farms Agbor, while 222 live and 50 dead layers were equally identified and handed over to Lawisco farms.
